The Covid-19 pandemic has derailed many applicants plans to apply to business schools because of their inability to locate a testing center. Here’s what you need to know if you are planning on taking your GRE or GMAT for fall 2020 intake.

Testing centers are closing in locations worldwide, however ETS has announced the launching of a home testing option as of March 23rd for tester located in the following countries: U.S., Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Hong Kong and Macau.

In order to qualify for the home testing option, you must have computer equipment that meets the requirements for the test and a room that provides an acceptable environment for the test. Monitoring of the test will be conducted using live remote proctors.

Applicants can take the test at home beginning Friday, March 27. ETS shared that they are continuing to assess the impact of the pandemic on test centers worldwide and are working to make the solution available in additional locations impacted by the pandemic.

The test is identical in content, format, on-screen experience and scoring to the GRE General Test taken at a test center. It is monitored online by a trained human proctor from start to finish to maintain test security.

For those who choose the postpone their test dates the rescheduling fee has been waived.

As for March 23rd testing facilities remain closed in many locations worldwide and GMAC announced that rescheduling fees were temporarily waived but no other announcement has been made about other testing options at this time.

GMAC announced that registrants whose appointments have been cancelled will be provided a full refund of their test fees and any appointment reschedule and cancellation fees. Applicants will be notified via email about their test appointment rescheduling or cancellation and a refund will be issued.

Keep in mind that if your appointment has been cancelled, it will not automatically be rescheduled. You will need to schedule a new test-taking appointment.
