关于The reason is because的疑问

今天在读Collins Speaking for IELTS的时候又被刷新三观了！这本书给了个例句：
The reason why I like warm weather is because you can spend more of your time outdoors.

按楼主的理解，正确的句子应该是:

The reason why I like warm weather is that you can spend more of your time outdoors.


我自己查各种资料的结果是，The reason is because是可以接受的（https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/usage-of-reason-is-because-redundant）

虽然这个是口语，但还是担心GMAT会不会考察这个，OG似乎出现过相关的题目（https://forum.chasedream.com/thread-1348922-1-1.html），但是原句是is because that，错得比较明显。
因此楼主想问问，GMAT对The reason is because是不会去考（像上面那道题一样，避免出现让你选is because和is that的情况），还是遵循语法，支持The reason is that?
