托福听力中的重听题的答题对策

托福听力中,有一类题目,是录音重放。这是听力中难得的可以再次听到音频的题目。经常出现在讲座题中的最后一题,大约有15%的出现机会。作为考试中唯一出现重放的题目,值得好好把握。


重听题,从录音回放的次数来说。往往有两种情况

含有二次回放:
这种题,是先出现一段较长的录音,然后二次回放这段录音中的一个小片段(通常是一句话),然后这一句话的作用。
不含二次回放:
这类题,是只回放一段较短的录音(通常只有一两句话),然后考察这一两句话的作用。

从考察内容来说,常见的有三类:

1 表达发言人的观点。观点一般比较明晰,是在“赞同,中立,反对”里进行三选一

2. 给出背景
3.举例解释

另外要注意的是,考题一般都是询问发言人「为什么」要说某句话,这种题目也往往属于推理题。作为推理题,要注意只是去推断一层逻辑关系即可,不要深入推测,不要脑补加戏。

1 关于发言人的观点

TPO 25 「动物行为」篇,最后一道重听题

听力原文

Male Student: Well, like wolves, the young pups, they fight a lot and bite, you know, not to hurt each other, but ... It just seems obvious why those wolf pups play like that. It gives them practice with skills that will make them better hunters or fighters as adults.

Female Student: Oh, I don't know about that. I mean, some of the things a young animal does while playing are totally different from the things they’ll do as an adult.

There was a really good example in the second article. I can't remember what it is called exactly.


二次回放内容:
Oh, I don't know about that.

题目如下:
What does the student mean when she says this:

A. She is not familiar with the play behavior of wolf pups.

B. She doubts that wolf pups fight as much as the other student implies.

C. She is not sure that she correctly understood the reading assignment.

D. She disagrees with the other student’s opinion about play behavior.


可以发现,男生的观点是 幼狼通过玩耍,长大后可以更好地捕猎。但女生不同意男生的观点,并加以解释。根据上下文推测,女生是在表达不同意的观点。注意,这道题也是推理题,一般只要推测一层就好,自己如果要猜想进一步的原因,往往会出错。所以选D,女生这句话就是表达她和男生的意见相反。



2.给出背景说明


在TPO 21 「舞蹈家」 这一篇里
Listen again to part of the conversation Then answer the questions.
听力原文:Remember, this is 1838. Self-reliance was a novel idea at the time, and United States citizens were less secure about themselves as individuals and as Americans.
二次回放:Remember, this is 1838.
考题:Why does the professor say this: (问教授说话的原因)

A. To suggest that United States citizens have not changed much over time
B. To encourage the class to find more information about this time period.
C. To explain why Emerson’s essay has lost some relevance.
D. To provide background for the concept he is explaining.

重听原文:Remember, this is 1838. Self-reliance was a novel idea at the time, and United States citizens were less secure about themselves as individuals and as Americans.


这道题,教授说了,要注意这是1838年,而他后面的话,也是在这个基础上展开的。即给了大家一个背景,所以选D。这里如果要进一步自己脑补,就很容易选别的答案。切记不要深入推测。

3. 举例解释

TPO 25 音乐史-巴托克 这一篇。
这是一道一次回放题目,重听的信息如下:
A glissando is ... well, I've got a recording of Bartok here ...

题目:

What does the professor mean when he says this:  

A. He wants to change the topic of the discussion.
B. He wants to acknowledge that the students may not be familiar with Bartók's music.
C. He believes the students should already be familiar with the term "glissando."
D. He will use an example of a glissando to help define the term
不难看出,老师是要展示一段巴托克的录音,来解释 glissando,所以选D。

但听的时候,可没有这么简单。A glissando is 里的 “is”,发音是弱化了的,如果不习惯托福的听力材料,很可能听不出来这个 is,那样的话,也会对听懂后面是在举例做成一定障碍。

解题思路

由于重听题是能够在播放录音前,就能在考试界面里识别的,而且大都出现在最后一题。所以做这类题目,我们能够有时间做好准备。

建议如下:

第一步:仔细阅读阅读考题,发现考点在考哪位说话人,考的是为什么说的,还是内容。
第二步:当录音播放时,把注意力放在说话人,内容的逻辑关系上。不外乎去辨别说话人的观点,或者去注意说话人准备强调,解释哪一部分的内容。在播放录音的时候,一旦出现观点,或者强调、解释性的内容,就格外注意。
第三步:当录音全部播放完毕后,回答考题,认真辨别选项。尤其是在涉及推测说话人原因时,注意只做一步推理,不要自行脑补,深究二层原因即可。
