Bc obviously few ppl will hesitate btw. Bocconi and UK TARGET school and TARGET program (u say target I would assume it is Oxbridge, LSE, LBS; IC & UCL & Warwick shall be targets as well but I would say program matters, definitely not as strong a target as Oxbridge where u can be invited to BB AC even if u r studying history/philosophy) (But honestly there are ppl studying ART at Bocconi who get GS FO FT, but again, she's Italian and even MSF italian guys feel slightly salty about that; and still ppl who study liberal arts major and break into IB tend to be Brits)
Then the problem will be: Is one-year program eligible for IB summer internship recruiting?(some allows some don't) Are u determined to do IB(or even BB) FO or whatever finance/consulting (including MO BO) internship is good enough for you? Is one year enough to fill your gap of technical and soft skills (assume you did bachelor in mainland and literally know nothing about European markets (companies/stocks/deals/rates & CB policy/business culture)/financial system(let's say mifid)/ political system/social issue; when I say know, it means you are able to talk confidently and fluently towards certain topic with senior professionals, in a lot of cases during interview would be ED/MD level and answer Q if they dig into it.) Is one-year enough for you to build up your network for longer term
And I personally will say that if one still needs agency to do most paperwork for you during the application process, then it will take extra time for u to be comfortable in email writing/cover letter/ interviews and whatever process it requires to convince ppl to give u a job.
And considering I have plenty of friends who did STEM in US but still went back to Shanghai directly after graduation, I would say post-study visa is useful, but in the end it depends on personal motivation. |
