i always thought "than usual" is the correct form, (eg OG253) but i just did one question about realized that sometimes, when 主詞是相同而比較時 "than is usual " 就必須了

But i am still...quite confused about its usuage, i saw the discussion about than usual and than normal ..but cannot clarify my thoughts..

我觉得那句话应该是The Parthenon is larger than （it ）is usual for a Doric temple, 省略了IT，这样就平行了。
