应该不行，因为e的句子是it is a difficult problem to estimate...这个是一个完整的句子成分没有平行之说。e有一个问题就是it is x that does y...这种类似的结构gmac认为是要强调x是作了y这个事情 的时候才会用的结构，可以参考一下og18的752题

这句话的意思是：估测宇宙膨胀是个大难题，因为没有一个尺标来测量所有的距离。

注意题干意思是"没有"，而不是"很少"。"a lack of"的意思是"很少, 缺乏", 并不是"没有"的意思！故去掉 A、C。

D选项说"a single yardstick is lacking"，意思是"一个标尺正在缺少"，明显主语谓语颠倒了，应该是缺少标尺，而且不应该用现在进行时，"正在缺少"？。

E选项"by no single yardstick can all distances be measured."=="all distances can be measured by no single yardstick"意思是"所有距离不可能被一个标尺测出"。原句要表达的意思是目前没有一个标尺(以后可能会发现)，这里却说的是不可能有这样一个标尺。

B选项正确。

觉得14楼的兄弟说的很有道理。
个人有个小看法：其实lack也有“没有”的意思，语义上更像是整体里缺少了一个对象。
a lack of a single yardsick 语义更像是“少了单一标准”，说明还有别的东西。这些东西加上single yardstick一起来起到作用。
no single yardstick就是没有这个标准，来作为原因。

對於E我有幾個確定的看法:
1. it is ... to 是一個避免頭重腳輕而衍生出來的結構，並非強調句，兩個結構上有微妙的差異。所以我並不認為這邊可以當解題點。
還原: To estimate the expansion rate of the universe is a notoriously difficult problem
還原過後看起來也沒有頭重腳輕的嫌疑，跟正確答案B比較不會有比較點。

2. 真正的解題點就是在because後面的can倒裝句，還原 : all distances can be measured by no single yardstick，句意上完全相反。

关于B和E的区别，我这么看：
B： no single yardstick BY WHICH...可以看作essential clause. 意思是“有一种yardstick不存在”。 By which修饰stick. 意思是一种特别的stick, 而不是随便什么stick.  这种stick具备一个特点： all distances can be measured.   这种yardstick 确实不存在，没毛病。
E: 倒装恢复后是： all distances can be measured by no single yardstick.  真的没有任何一种yardstick能做到吗？ 显然不对。
总而言之，B是说：有一种满足xxx的yardstick不存在。 E是说： 没有一个yardstick能做到这件事。
