GMAT official practice exam 里的一道题：
Galileo did not invent the telescope, but on hearing, in 1609, that such an optical instrument had been made, he quickly buit his own device from an organ pipe and spectacle lenses.

请教懂GMAC思路和分析的剖析一下具体每一个语法点。谢谢！！！

这题如果搞不清时态的话，还是可以从语法方面把A选出来的。首先连词后面应该是一个完整的句子，可以把B,D排除，C选项里面明显主语run on了，Galileo后面又加he，排除掉。剩下A和E，E里面有个明显错误even thought +but。所以可以选A了。
