Yes of course. You could check his profile: https://www.bus.miami.edu/_assets/faculty-cv/marketing/cv-kanuri-vamsi.pdf  -- His work has a bit of quant flavor (though the methods are still not sophisticated enough, and no econ theory)

But to be honest, based on the flyout he got on the job market, he mostly marketed himself as strategy/managerial candidates. I don't think you need to stick too much on whether can label yourself as quant. It may not increase your job market chance since you need to compete with strong quant candidates from top 20 programs with very solid econ/stat training. You may not have any advantage over them.

For the professor you mentioned, N Syam has the most quant type of work (analytical model). You could consider to work with him if you really want to be "quant".

Using quantitative methods does not necessary make you a "quant marketing candidate". There are only four types of quant marketing candidates: (1) analytical modeler (2) structural modeler (3) Bayesian statistician and (4) Deep learning scientists. Field experimenter could be the fifth type. However on the job market, a field experiment JMP needs to be complemented with theoretical model. You need to show your muscles in sophisticated methods or theories.

People can do interesting research using simple and neat reduced form models and claim themselves as a quantitative candidate (I saw those cases). Though I don't think they ever have a good chance in "real" quant schools and they basically ended up in good strategy/managerial schools. Quant marketing is still a small elite club with fewer than 30 schools. It's a high risk and high reward career. If you truly want to try this more challenging career, then Mizzou might not be the best option. Try to get into a top 20 program like Maryland, WUSTL or UMN.

UT Dallas is considered as top 20 quant program.
U Conn,Syracuse, ASU, Houston and Temple has some good quant scholars, placed a few good candidates. They're more in the 20-50 range. Houston and Temple is rising very fast though.
UGA is a strategy program.
