But to be honest, based on the flyout he got on the job market, he mostly marketed himself as strategy/managerial candidates. I don't think you need to stick too much on whether can label yourself as quant. It may not increase your job market chance since you need to compete with strong quant candidates from top 20 programs with very solid econ/stat training. You may not have any advantage over them.
For the professor you mentioned, N Syam has the most quant type of work (analytical model). You could consider to work with him if you really want to be "quant". |
