The more time you spend on the essays, the better your essays. Period.

8 schools in one round, it sounds crazy to me. Also, when you plan your application, you should have found out the preferences of different schools. Columbia loves early applicants, it encourages applicants to apply as early as possible even though it has a rolling review process which means the review process will not start until certain date.

On the other hand, Wharton and Kellogg take 1st round and 2nd round applicants quite evenly. So you might want to perfect your essays before you submit them before the 2nd round deadline. I did ask wharton's admission officer in person about the differences between 1st and 2nd round. He asnwered: "There aren't any differences. Submit your application when you think it's ready."

我的情况时，事例不少，可是要套在问题的框子里， 就难了。另外，昨天在这里看到一文章。是一个AdCom 讲 numbers can't make you stand out.所以今天就把一些numbers去掉，结果又觉得平淡，缺乏说服力。essay is  a tough nut to crack! Hardcore brain tweezer!

我已经决定申WHARTON和KELLOGG的第二轮了。

不过虽然我原来打算申8所学校的第一轮,但是他们的时间间隔也挺大的。有4所是10月中旬(包括W和K)，2所是10月下旬和11月初,2所是12月初和明年1月中旬。

再次感谢所有发言的朋友！

辨证的说，如果来得及，当然第一轮好。

如果来不及，准备不充分的话，早递交，仅仅是早被据。。。。

晕倒！那我也写中文吧（我说这个帖子，虽然我打中文老死机）。我觉得中英文感觉是不一样的，如果先写了中文，翻译过来就很怪的。申请8所，肯定不能保证质量！我个人感觉每一个学校的都要花费很多时间去修改，哪怕原来有别的学校的基础，因为你后面又会发现前面写的东西的问题。如果自己都不满意，就不要着急交了。

agree,我也觉得不一样，思维不一样，想一下你讲英文的过程，难道是在脑子里先反映中文，然后翻译成英文吗？我觉得是你心里要表达什么意思，直接用英文表达出来。有时候，语言确实限制思维，比如说我有时候要说什么，但模模糊糊写不出来，但看了别人的范例，澳，我明白了，原来我要表达的就是这个意思，所以这是英文写作限制思维的地方，但是如果先用中文，再翻译，没有试过，但会觉得和英文直接表达的意思不太一样。

刚又发现了一个问题，推荐信。本来第三封推荐信已经想好人选了，可是和朋友一聊，才觉得这个人的英文不好是一个大问题。现在好像每个学校录取后都要进行背景调查，会和推荐人联系，如果推荐人英文不好，那不说明推荐信不是推荐人写的吗？

我确实只有两个比较合适的推荐人人选，第三封真的让我黔驴技穷啦，有遇到类似问题的吗？准备怎么办？

你可以让推荐人写中文，然后你译成英文，申请的时候把中文原件和英文译件一起寄到学校就可以了!
