We have three-year GRA positions for motivated Ph.D. students to work on machine learning and its applications in the Computer Science Department at University of Wyoming in U.S..

Our current research focus is fairness-aware machine learning, a topic aiming to characterize and reduce unethical bias in model predictions; application areas include automated credit assessment, job hiring, face recognition, education assessment, hospitalization, recommendation system, etc.

Ideal applicants should have master/ bachelor degree in computer science or closely related areas, and some experience in machine learning; candidates with strong mathematical background and proficient programming skills are highly encouraged to apply.

The CS department at UW is building an internationally recognized research team on machine learning and artificial intelligence, with publication records on top tier venues such as UAI, KDD, NIPS, CVPR, TKDE, CIKM, etc.
