请教一语法，不知道出处

我觉得答案A是正确的。

（1）有...潜力的习惯用法是 potential to 和potential for.而不是potential as.

(2)to be huge reservoirs of energy, possibly causing sea floor instability, and significant contributors to global warming.红色字体平行。

(3)possibly causing sea floor instability相当于平时语法中的which从句，修饰其前面的词。

A of B, which is……这里的which是可以越前指代的，就会出现修饰A/B的歧义。不稳定是energy或是reservior引起的？这不对吧，因该是由Gas hydrates引起的吧？。所以这里把causing看作现在分词表伴随结果伙伴随动作更合理。那么，伴随分词修饰的是主句谓语，那么就是are了（V22，不管我的答案是否正确，这个语法知识点可以回答你的问题）。如果是伴随，那么放在中间就很尴尬。（时隔太久，想不起OG上是第几道题了，但这个知识点是有的）。

最后说一句：最工整的平行可以带来最严谨的句子结构，平行，是我认为GMAT语法的first priority。我的答案绝对不是绝对正确的，但我的这一点点忠告希望能对大家有所帮助。

A中有两个点：potential to be 和 possibly causing.....

我们是否要明确究竟用to be好还是as 好？

这里possibly causing 可以说修饰前面are increasingly being studied....，possibly causing ....，and （to be这里是否能省略还是个问题）significant contributors to global warming.这样，possibly causing 就不知道究竟修饰are还是energy了。这是不明确的地方。

C.工整平行：as ...., as ....,and even as ...，除了也许 to be 要比as好外（不确定），但是还有什么理由要说C是错的呢？

U can omit "possibly causing..." for it is an independent part and still the sentence can be established.

for potential, I prefer "potential to do"
