"as huge reservoirs of energy, possibly causing sea floor instability, and" in E is wrong for no "as" after "and" .

if you want to use "as X and as Y", you must complete the sentence by adding the preposition word before every parallel noun.

And C is wrong for it mistakenly forms a parallelity "their potential as huge reservoirs of energy, as possible causes of sea floor instability,and even as significant contributors to global warming".

First, "their potential as possible causes" seems ridiculous.

Second, "potential to" is better than "potential as".

Third, the most different part from Choice A, whta causes the "sea floor instability"? The "energy", not "Gas hydrates".

Thus, we have A reading "Gas hydrates are increasingly being studied for their potential to be huge reservoirs of energy, possibly causing sea floor instability, and significant contributors to global warming" where "possibly causing sea floor instability" is used to modify "energy".

I think i neglect a point that A is "being studied for their potential to be .....and significant contributors ," creating the main structure and parallelism of the sentence .

At the very beginning, i make the mistakes: 1.pontential as shoule be used here.( BTW, i am still a bit doubtful that "potential to" is better than "potential as". why?

and A, why "to be "can be omited after "and",while "as" cannot?

2.i mistakenly supposed that "significant contributors " is the object of "causing.but in fact, it should be the object of "potential"...

我选C，as+adj+复数名词的平行，蛮漂亮的。如果用现在分词的causing，首先放在两个成分中间很尴尬。表伴随的话只有修饰谓语are，我觉得不太好。

当然，一家之言，仅供参考。

TONY 也说得有点道理。as+adj+复数名词的平行的确有可取的地方。但是说到果用现在分词的causing，首先放在两个成分中间很尴尬。表伴随的话只有修饰谓语are，causing 应该是修饰energy，怎么说修饰are呢？知识薄弱，不太懂的说，呵呵。。。

另外这里究竟考potential to be和potential as吗？还是更考逻辑和平行？

这道题目就是A C E的争议了。
