With the patience of its customers and with its network strained to the breaking point, the on-line service company announced a series of new initiatives trying to relieve the congestion that has led to at least four class-action lawsuits and thousands of complaints from frustrated customers.

A.        the patience of its customers and with its network strained to the breaking point, the on-line service company announced a series of new initiatives trying to relieve
B.        the patience of its customers and its network strained to the breaking point, the on-line service company announced a series of new initiatives that try to relieve
C.        its network and the patience of its customers strained to the breaking point, the on-line service company announced a series of new initiatives to try to relieve
D.        its network and with the patience of its customers strained to the breaking point, the on-line service company announced a series of initiatives to try relieving
E.        its network and its customers’ patience strained to the breaking point, the on-line service company announced a series of new initiatives to try relieving

2)try to do 和 try doing的区别。

1)and 平行结构在这里是 “its customer" 和 "its network”。 with 后面是 “the patience of”。 要不然就是 ”the patience of its customer“ 和 “the breaking point of its network stain" 了……

try to do 努力去完成

if THE GOAL is to '____', then you 'try to ____'.
in this case it is not certain whether the subject will successfully '____'.
---Tomorrow, Ram's five-year-old daughter will try to ride a bicycle.
--> THE GOAL is to ride a bike. it is not certain whether she will succeed.

on the other hand, if '____ing' is a method you're using to try to achieve some goal (and is not the goal itself), then you 'try ____ing' in order to achieve that goal.
here, the subject is definitely able to '____', although it's an open question whether the actual goal will be achieved.
---I will try riding a bicycle to the store, because I don't have the time to walk there.
--> i know how to ride a bike. this isn't the goal. the goal is to get to the store in less time than it would take to go there on foot.
(in this example, 'riding' is no different from any other NOUN representing some method—e.g., I'm going to try the subway.)

个人觉得 with A and with B strained to sth. 这时的 strained to sth. 只修饰B
当 with A and B strained to sth. 这种情况时,A and B作为一个整体,被 strained to sth. 修饰
