TWE124 Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is more important for

students to study history and literature than it is for them to study science and

mathematics. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Modern society is like a huge machine, thus needs people to be specialists rather than generalists. The person like Aristotle is probably sealed in the history books for each field of science is dividied into so specific division that one human mind can not afford to concertrate on two distinctive areas. When confronting the problems as choosing which major as a career, there always leads to a controversy. Some people think history and literature is important while other advocate science and mathematics. As far as I am concerned, the problem is not either-or choice to determine before we seriously consider the following aspects.

First, the students themselves should be the persons who make such a decision. Personality and interest shown in their dialy lives determine which aspect they should focus more. For instance, with interesting in the hero stories and works and paintings by artists, history and literature is more suitable as ones major. On the other hand, clear understanding of theories and execution and sharp instinct to the numbers, science and mathematics are a better selection. With real interest of which he follows will lead to willings of hard work. Consquently, Good results are expected and people often feel obtaining personal achievement.

Secondly, The relationship of humane science and nature science is not subsitution but reinformance. Now historians often conduct the researches with the aid of computer technology. Composers can write the songs and artists can design their painting prototype on cumputers. Forthermore, a broad knowledge of history and literature often helps to shape more systemmatical understanding of the nature sceince.

In conclusion, there is no inclination as which aspect is more important to each other. However, they are equally important that all have contribuion to our development of society. People should be encouraged to make a decision which seems to be suitable to their interest.

It has long been a controversy amongst critics and students in the majors of the sciences and arts as to which subjects would be more beneficial to study. While science students claim that its field of study involves intellectual ability, art students feel that the understanding and study of art is far richer in its importance, chiefly in its influence through the evolution of human history. I conclude that a balance in the knowledge of both the subjects is essential, the reasons of which I will lay down.

Science and math subjects are intellectually rewarding in that they teach the understanding of theories that improve humans’ living standards, such as research conducted in universities and science laboratories to enhance the lives of human beings with vaccines constantly being researched, produced and tested for incurable diseases. Without such a study, the world would be in serious trouble of poor health and living standards. Every theory that is founded would have been tried and tested to prove its success, concluding how the study of science and math subjects requires intellectual capabilities in its challenging field. While it is essential that the study of the sciences and math continues to ensure a healthy living environment, it is also important that a science student receives adequate education in the arts subjects to develop an artistic side of his life.

A distinct culture of the arts student is his detailed and subjective approach toward a subject which he has particular interests and talent. It is the beauty of life amidst all the things that could be explained by a science student and a mystery to study. While history had taken place, the study of human evolution is equally beneficial in developing a knowledgeable individual. It helps enhance an individual's life in the ability to appreciate the beauty that life comes bundled in.

In conclusion to my opinion, it is essential to have a balance in the study of arts and science subjects as they complement an individual's life with knowledge and facts and the ability to appreciate the beauty of life, with god's gifts of music, literature and art.
