想申请18年北美MBA，大概背景如下。Top 15 美本（Cornell/JHU/Rice/Vanderbilt)，GPA 3.7+，GMAT740。截至18年入学的时候，工作经历一共三年，第一年在Top 5 consulting firm (Deloitte/Accenture)美国办公室，之后半年在同一家公司香港办公室，然后剩下的一年半在一家blue chip tech firm的香港办公室做marketing/sales (Google/Facebook/Microsoft/Amazon），主要在国内做项目。MBA短期目的是转向做product management，长期目标是在互联网/科技公司负责产品、市场相关。

个人觉得M7应该是有希望的，但保底的学校大概应该在什么水平？工作时间below average这一点需要怎么去弥补？可能从哪些方面去阐述自己的长项？我的职业规划在学校看来可能会存在什么问题吗？

Good to hear from you!
So I think you have a very excellent profile, and as long as you can tell a good story and get some good recommenders, your profile should be preeeetty competitive.

To answer your specific questions:
I think about S16 schools for safe schools is about right. I would need to hear a bit more detail about your work experience to REALLY dig in, but it seems good.
- Your working time isn’t that short. If you have three years already that means four by matriculation, which for blue chip tech is about right.
- What your advantages are is not yet clear to me. I think you have a good profile in that all the necessary stuff - school, employer, grades, test scores are all excellent. But I don’t yet see what is unique in your profile. This is something to think about, and to work on.
- Your career plan is a good one. It needs to be more refined, but it’s a good start.

Hi Jon, really appreciate your time! Maybe I failed to clarify it very clearly, by matriculation I'll only have three years of work experience (1.5 years in consulting and 1.5 in tech). Do you think this is gonna be an issue? If so, what am I supposed to do/demonstrate in order to mitigate the risks? Also, you said I need to refine my career goals, could you please explain a little bit more?

Well even 3 years is fine. It is a bit on the short end (average being about 5 for US programs), although once again come from Blue Chip tech, it should be fine. You might seem a bit less impressive since you will be going up against folks with more experience, but that’s a strategic decision you need to make (better to wait and apply with a somewhat better profile, or better to apply sooner).

To mitigate that,t he best things to do are to a) show leadership b) show you are progressing faster than usual.

As for your goals, I think don’t worry about it for now, but think about exactly what you want to do for what companies and how this fits into your career past.
