这个项目其实今年第一届,2016年快要年尾再开。楼主不才到第三round才申。选课上,这个项目和WUSTL王牌项目MSF-C track重合度很大。c-track就业率百分百当然也会生源有关。国际生很少录,一定程度上录得中国人都是有拿美国身份的。WAM目前录取群保持在30人左右。也不排除没有进群的人。这样一来重合度大,容易一起上课,上课的话相对来说课堂国际生比例会稀释掉,变少。
这个帖子主要是想讲一下课程。最近小伙伴跟我提到capstone课程。我心里一愣,我都没有看过自己录取的program有没有类似课程。不查还好一查吓一跳。
项目是11个月。从7月份开始上课。非常intensive。国际生上四门课。每天一门课四小时。10天上完一门课。周一上到周六。这样就完成了所谓的暑期课程。
暑期课程如下:
Investment theory; Advanaced corporate finane I- valuation; Derivative Secuitites; Options and Futures
重点来了 Fall semester 和 spring semester;我总结了一下总共有四节课和capstone教学类似。或者直接和当地公司合作。四节什么概念,你可以在简历上写到爆炸啊,四个直接project参与经历。讲真,我觉得msf和mf还有金数非常不一样,msf最讲究project经历,应届毕业以后入职,要工作经验没工作经验。这个时候project太重要了。而且最重要的一点在用这种教学形式直接和当地公司合作可以更好地去partner公司找工作。
FIN 500X Venture Capital Practice
This course is the capstone for students interested in early stage investing. The courseobjective is to develop practical skills for angel and early-stage investing in private companies.Students will partner with professional investors in the St. Louis community to perform variousactivities, including finding deals, performing evaluations of investment opportunities, and whereappropriate negotiating, arranging financing, and closing investments. The course also relies onbringing in investment professionals from the local community to provide real-world perspectiveon early stage investing. Prerequisite: Venture Capital Methods and instructor approval. 1.5credits.
MGT 501 Management Center Practicum
Students work in four-person teams on consulting projects, applying insights from their coursework to real-world business problems under faculty supervision. Each student is expected tospend about 150 hours on the project. Grades are based on the quality of the final written andoral reports, as determined by the faculty supervisor. Students are paid a small gratuity, theamount, depending on the quality of the work. 3 credits.

FIN 500Z Private Equity Practice
This course is the capstone for students interested in pursuing careers in private equity.Students will develop practical skills for investing in private companies. Students will partnerwith professionals in the St. Louis community to perform various activities, including transactionsourcing, evaluating investment opportunities and, where appropriate, negotiating, arrangingfinancing, and closing investments. The course also heavily relies on bringing in professionalsfrom the local community to provide real-world perspectives on private equity investing.Prerequisite: FIN 500Y. 1.5 credits.
FIN 528 Investments Praxi
In this course students serve as managers of a portfolio, the Investment Praxis Fund, which isowned by the school. Students will analyze investment opportunities in various industries andpresent recommendations to the class for possible purchases or sales of securities. Studentsmust demonstrate that their investment decisions are consistent with the style and objectives ofthe fund. Valuation tools and financial statement analysis are emphasized as part of a thoroughanalysis. The course will emphasize contact with investment professionals such as portfoliomanagers, securities traders, consultants, custodians, and plan sponsors. At the end of thesemester the students will report on their performance to the advisory board of the fund which iscomposed of University financial officers and outside investment professionals. 3 credits.
FIN 550B Wealth Management
The course will help students to apply the many holistic concepts of Wealth Management byreviewing topics covered in previous courses, and emphasizing the importance of synthesizing,communicating and executing the various planning strategies used to meet the individual needsof clients. Students will be split into small groups; each group will receive a distinct client casestudy in the first class, and each group will develop a wealth management plan over the courseof the semester to be presented to a hypothetical client in the last class. Every class will reviewplanning topics including investment concepts, estate planning, tax management, insuranceplanning, retirement funding and education funding with a focus on practical application that willinform the recommendations in the wealth management plans. 1.5 credits.
