plain surface.

答案是D 为什么B DEVELOPED 不用被动? 而且答案解释说因SURFACE这里不可数所以把D中去掉THE 不过我查了LONGMAN字典,SURFACE好像都可数吧

the 应当换成its,指前面的this.

this应该改成it，指代前面的style。

develop在这里是不能用被动态的，发展，而不是被发展

this 是对的，可以指代style。

我认为就是D 错，大家可以参见高分语法第二页，关于物主代词的问题：（引用如下）

英语中许多习惯用法在表示特指时，都用物主代词而不用the，为的是突出所属关系，这在toefl是常考的考点。

例如：

A good exercise program helps teach people to avoid the habits that might shorten the lives.

D->their

the指代不清楚，用their突出lives和people的所属关系

上例关于their没错，但不适用于this，因为this不是物主代词，而是指示代词，该题目中因为有明确的style一词，只能用it指代，不能用this。

虽然这里有of, 但是Large areas 和 Plain surface 不是从属关系,而是用Plain surface修饰Large areas.所以我感觉用its不妥.
