Many people like pets, such as dogs, cats, birds or other animals. They have a close relationship with their pets. These people give their pets clothes, foods, toys.  They treat them as members of their family. But in my opinion, having a pet or not having a pet both have advantages and disadvantages.

First, pet can cause some diseases, especially, when there is a pregnant woman or an infant in the family. Pet can be very dangerous for them. It’s said that some women had strange fetuses just because they were too close to their cats or dogs. Some pets even bite infants’ penises. Any of them can put the family in a great sorrow.

Second, pet can harm environment. In China, most cities have had a lot of environment problems. There are still a lot of people who do not have the sense to protect environment. They will let their pet pee or shit anywhere. Therefore our environment will become even worse.

Finally, it is also the very important, taking care of pet needs a lot of spending. There are still a lot of people living very poor. They can not eat enough, they do not have enough clothes, they can not pay their tuitions to get basic education. Why not put the money in charity to help more people?

Though sometimes pets can be our friends, they can bring a lot of fun to us. They even offer help sometimes. But from what has been discussed above, I would say keep a distance to your pets, do not be too close to them.

If you plan to stengthen the disavantages of having pets, you had better make your point clear in the first paragraph rather than claim that having a pet or not having a pet both have advantages and disadvantages. Another point I am worried about your essay is that your reasons provided sound really hard and unfriendly.

First, pet can cause some diseases, especially, when there is a pregnant woman or an infant in the family. Pet can be very dangerous for them. It’s said that some women had strange fetuses just because they were too close to their cats or dogs. Some pets even bite infants’ penises. Any of them can put the family in a great sorrow. It’s wise to keep pets away from pregnant women or infants.

Second, pet can harm environment. In China some people do not have the sense to protect environment. They let their pets pee or shit anywhere. Therefore our environment will become even worse. We need a clean environment. If the pets need to pee or shit, keep them out of sidewalk.

Finally, it is also the very important that taking care of pet needs a lot of spending. There are still a lot of people living very poor. They do not eat enough; they do not have enough clothes; they cannot afford the tuitions to get basic education. How about putting the money in charity to help more people?

I do not deny that having a pet may have some advantages. Pets can be our friends. They can bring a lot of funs to us. They even offer help sometimes. But from what has been discussed above, I would say that keeping appropriate relationships with pets makes life safer and happier.
