正确答案是E.但是我不明白为何C不正确？大全的解释是：C) and largely offsets中and前后不平行。如果考虑平行，那么E也不对啦，是吗？ 望高人指教！！！！

我宁可相信这道题的答案是B.问题在于是什么largely offsets weak demand ，不可能是 an amount

当修饰的短语或从句离被修饰的词中间有其他词时，尽量采用同位语的形式。因为这样可以避免歧义。

具体到本题，觉得就更应该用同位语的方式：

因为，逗号前的第一个词是1992，而要修饰的词应该是167 billion 。一个数（1992）和一个量（167 billion ），似乎都可以用which is 14 percent higher 这样的从句修饰，就更容易引起歧义。

我现在认为这题应该选E了。A,B中的which可能被理解成1992，则形不成比较。C不可能构成句子了，14 percent higher than the previous year’s figure and...

和and后面连不上。D选项结尾多了一个was.

这个题答案应该是E。个人理由如下：

（1） 看不划线的部分.... and largely offsets weak demand from Europe and Japan，largely offset是动词，说明1992的逗号之后应该有一个句子，前面应该有一个相当于动词的谓语与其并列，且共同修饰一个主语

（2）14％多，是比较销售额，销售额是一个数字，应该用an amount引导一个同位语

（3）比较对象一致性原则：因为比较的是销售额，一个数字，所以than后面的对象也应该是一个数字，而不能是previous year（去年，一个时间）

不知我的解释是否正确，供商榷
