感觉C还是很容易选出来的。（因为感觉allowing it的it木有其他actual noun可以替代，在做题的时候并没有依靠这个来split）
但是仔细看正确选项解释的时候发现无法理解OG上说的：the singular pronoun it correctly agrees with its antecedent( elephant seal).  
of the elephant seal 不是一个修饰成分吗，it肿么可以指代修饰成分中的noun.而且就算可以指代，不也应该指代any other animal 吗？

pronoun可以指代修饰成分中的noun，没有规则说不可以。

你说it应该指代any other animal，我想你的意思是it应该指代离它最近的noun。我想你大概是混淆了pronoun的指代和which/that的指代，pronoun的指代没有要求最近，which/that则最好是指代最近的（虽然也不是必须，但是这会是gmat选择的一个考虑点）。

今天突然看到elory的笔记里写了：
they, their, it,them,都是完整指代，即指代包含了被指对象的所有修饰成分
**注意仅仅是修饰词，如：
  In Japan elderly people are treated with far greater respect than they are in most Western countries.如果前面的elderly people没有其他修饰，后面时可以用they来指代的。
突然发现 好像之前是记混了
请问关于代词指代的位置，具体有什么规则吗？
