一道简单的语法问题 og15 verbal分册56

56. Archaeologists in Ireland believe thata recently discovered chalice, which dates from the eighth century, wasprobably buried to keep from being stolen by invaders.

B. to keep it from

C. to avoid

我当时出于简洁的考虑选了C。书后说是为了clarity所以要加it，所以c的话如果变成to avoid it就对了？感觉还是很拗口。。所以C究竟是语法上的错吗？

语法上是对的，但是meaning上错了：the chalice was probably buried to avoid being stolen by invaders. 读起来很变扭，这里不是很清楚是否是别人bury to avoid being stolen还是chalice bury 了自己to avoid being stolen。这里需要“it”来说明to avoid 什么being stolen。
