1. If you really want an MFE, wanna study something quantitative, I guess the choice is obvious between NYU Tandon vs BU when you read the program structure.
2. well, from a mathematics point of view:
I/ a time series course in finance deparmtn << one in the math/stat department.
Normally a finance version of it will at most go till thing like AIC or MLE, but rarely go into lag operator and matrix algebra for proofing, in order to leave a bit time for GARCH.
II/ C++ is definitly useful to get a job........but it doesn't show any mathematical ability. It is normally believe that a good maths student can learn programming after some time with difficulties, but not the other way round for CS learning math.
3. It definitly worth to ask Columbia again after you have that.......but I guess you cant wait for this at this moment anyway, i.e. out of picture for decision this moment. |
