一道答很矛盾SC，求教大神

按照白勇 的解释，once+形容词在句首，逻辑主语等于主句的主语，只有black footed ferrets可以充当 common throughout the Western plains的主语，所以选A
解释似乎没有什么错误，但是在曼哈顿6th 272页明确说明Dogs HAVE FALLEN IN NUMBER, but cats HAVE RISEN IN NUMBER.是错误的表达，这样的话A就是错的啦，请高手解释

这种就是典型的低质量题，受到出题者本人水平的限制，在考察一个出题者知道的考点同时，制造了另一个错误。所以说要先做OG/Prep，很多杂项来源的题目，比如1000SC之类的，经常会出这种问题。

当然modifier在GMAT里属于原则性规则，要我非要选一个的话，肯定也是A

嗯，那就是说A选项确实有问题喽，也是在CD上看见别人推荐的白用，所以拿来看看，问题确实不少

這種正確選項的寫法不是現行GMAT的考法。

SC其中一個正確選項的原則講求的是句意上的一致性（agreement）跟清晰表達，
要表達數量上升下降
the number of black-footed ferrets has declined才是GMAT正確選項的寫法
而black-footed ferrets have declined in number這就是不清晰的表達
ferrets declined跟number decline，哪一個的S+V比較合理？

樓主可以參考這道經典OG題的出法：
Joachim Raff and Giacomo Meyerbeer are examples of the kind of composer who receives popular acclaim while living, often goes into decline after death, and never regains popularity again.
(B) whose reputation declines after death and never regains its status again
(D) who declines in reputation after death and who never regained popularity again
（答案B）
reputation會下降，但人不會下降。

樓主可以去下載「正確句子集合」，用搜尋功能搜「decline/increase/decrease」這類動詞，看看他的主語都怎麼搭配的就好。

最後以親身經驗建議：來路不明的題目少作，不一定符合現在的解題觀念。

多谢Dustin的分析，不过B选项regain和again有重复的嫌疑，但是解释非常正确，很受益。关于这个例子，正确答案是C-but whose reputation declines after death and never regains its former status 望知悉

答案是C，但是这里those 没有指代manufacturers的嫌疑吗？
