Yesterday had a talk with one of the admission officers at Vandy. The conversation went really really well, and I was not challenged at all. It was a blind interview, so she only had my resume. She asked me like 10-12 questions, but I can't recall all of them.
1. Brief your career path and career switch during the past years, what drived you to do so
2. Short-term goal (Yes, no need to tell the long-term goal! most schools really care whether you can find a decend job right after MBA!)
3. Why mba and why now
4. Why Vandy?
5. What specific courses, activities, clubs at Vandy would you want to join?
6. How would you peers/colleagues describe you?
7. What's the biggest challenge at your current work?
8. Any other things you want to hightlight to the adcom?
Overall 45min, pretty conversational. I enjoyed a lot.
Btw, Vandy is seriously underrated. Its healthcare, corporate finance and HR directions have really good reputation. Vandy does have a big name in the US but unfortunately is not that famous in China, because only a few international students are admitted every year, and the school is not planning to absorb more international students. Anyway, You are going to find plentiful opportunities there as long as you can make the most of the resources at Vandy.
