1。请问where once到底是什么意思？（1） 刘振明的书说：where once 表示 because. 但是这样子放入原文解不通啊。 （2） 还有人说：where 这里指的是 a situation, a position, - where once 所引导的句子所描述的情况，一定会在后面被改变。 我也觉得说的很模糊。

2。而这里为什么一定要用过去完成时呢？虽然这里有after1987，表明acquiesce这个动作是在before1987之前发生的，但是，acquiesce应该是一个瞬间动作，而非持续性动作，这种非持续性动作怎么能用完成时态呢？

这个题我第一次做也错了，想来想去，有可能where也能有whereas or while的意思（未证实），也许和楼上的mm再longman里查到的一样。 但是可能真的判断选项还是要从句义来理解。首先，in support of 是固定搭配，in supporting的用法似乎没见过。就算有，那他们的意思都是支持，凡在句尾，就容易造成逻辑意思不清晰。是说its English-speaking members支持imposition。全句可以理解为，联盟默认了（它的支持强制对移民工人征税的说英语的成员的）偏见。但是原句中的意思应该是联盟通过支持强制对移民工人征税默认了它的说英语的成员的偏见。
