Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:Young people nowadays do not give enough time to helping their communities. Have you ever felt extremely tired after a whole day’s work? Have you ever dizzied about various kinds of social activities? Have your ever questioned about the meaning of helping communities? If you have those similar experiences, you might understand what I am going to say. Nowadays, working in communities has become an important part in people’s lives, however, young today are actually spending less time on helping communities. There are many possible reasons comes with this phenomenon. Among them are other appealing social activities such as debuting clubs or voluntary organizations and fierce competition among young people in universities or companies. To begin with, with enormous amount of other meaningful social activities, helping communities may not be considered practical. This point can be appropriately illustrated by the example of my sister, Jane, who is a senior student in Peking university. She is very obliging and often helps her communities do some simple works. However, since she entered university, she has become extremely busy. Working at the students’ union, attending several debating club, and volunteering in WWF take up almost all her free time. With more challenging works, she found it is near impossible to help communities and that is the reason why she does not help her community anymore. This case is actually not rare, in reality, many young people find they are occupied with immense amount of social activities and have no energy to help their communities. Moreover, enough time is actually a prerequisite for helping communities. It is universally acknowleaged that young people today have less time can be utilized to help their communities.. We may easily quote a single example to demonstrate this point. Just imagine how busy you are when you are preparing for you exams or projects, at that time, how can you spare your time to help your communities? Examples like this happen everywhere. According to a recent survey made by Chinese Academy of Social Science, over fifty-percent of young adult aged between 18-15 have trouble in managing their schedules. Lacking personal time makes them less likely to make contributions to their communities.Hence, from my perspective, it is time the university did something to reduce burden of studens. Admittedly, spending less time on helping comunities can saves plenty of time and ameliorates young people’performace in universities or companies. These factors are not the determinats of success. Moreove, only possessing much more time does not necessarily mean accomplishing assignments efficiently because this time might be waste if not been utilized appropriately. In conclusion, taking all these factors into consideration, young people today have insufficient time to help their communities becauese of less time availale and various kinds of other activities..However, there is no denying that this situation can be ameliorated with assistances from universities and our society. After all, a sense of responsibility is what a well-round young man/woman calls for. |
