问题一：不是有一个表示虚拟的might动词了吗？再按照解释所说的加上would不就重复了。

问题二：就D来在WHO后面加上would作为虚拟动词表示条件，但是用would表示条件或者含蓄条件时，都是用在主句上的，例如if v-ed, …would v.句型，it would be pity to miss the play（如果错过了这场戏，将是非常遗憾的），大家有看过表示虚拟的动词用在丛句中吗？

我的意思是在从句中用would、should等词的情况，也就是说表条件的时候例如if ... would.....,的情况应该没有吧？

这个才是句子结构,就是说,你所说的这个would在这里并不是在条件状语从句中的. 句中划线部分整个是humans 的定语从句,而所谓的虚拟是在这个名次性从句中的主句里面,不知道我解释清楚了没有.(如果发生这样的事,相当一部分人类将会没有抵抗力而将面临死亡,因为这样的事没有发生,所以虚拟发生的条件)

句子的原意是it was feared that scien­tists might create a microbe that might escape and kill humans. 后面who 引导的名词性从句修饰humans, 与might 不相干.

我理解would在非真实条件和含蓄条件从句中用在主句中情况,与此题用于who引导的名词性从句中用法一致. would 在此题中并没有用在条件状语从句中.

有关表示虚拟的动词用在条件从句中的用法,我查了一下,should可以,没见有用would的. eg. If it should rain tomorrow, the football match would be put off.

谢谢隽尔和imvc,只是我从来没有见过定语从句中用would表示虚拟的情况，只有用状语丛句的规则套用。以后记住了有这种语法现象！
