The 2009 QuantNetwork Ranking of Financial Engineering/Mathematical Finance MS Programs The 2009 QuantNetwork Ranking of Financial Engineering/Mathematical Finance MS Programs located in North America (US and Canada) is based on publicly available data from Xmarks, and uses a proprietary analysis algorithm* developed by QuantNetwork.
The same algorithm was used to rank US Business Schools. The resulting 2009 QuantNetwork Ranking of Business Schools is in line with the 2009 US News and World Report Ranking, the 2008 Business Week Ranking, and the 2009 Forbes Ranking of Business Schools.
The QuantNetwork Ranking is significantly closer to the 2009 US News and World Report Ranking than the other two rankings, suggesting that a ranking of Financial Engineering / Mathematical Finance MS Programs done according to the US News and World Report methodology would result in a ranking similar to the 2009 QuantNetwork Ranking of Financial Engineering / Mathematical Finance MS Programs.
Methodology
Notes: 23 programs were ranked. The results are reported in groups of five: 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, and 21-23, listing the programs alphabetically by school within each group Rank School Program Tuition** Type Duration 1-5 Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh, PA MS, Computational Finance wiki discuss this program $73,800 FT/PT 1.5 years 1-5 Columbia University New York, NY MS, Financial Engineering wiki discuss this program $47,160 FT 1 year 1-5 Princeton University Princeton, NJ MS, Finance wiki discuss this program $73,220 FT 2 years 1-5 Stanford University Stanford, CA MS, Financial Mathematics wiki discuss this program $37,380 FT 1 year 1-5 University of Chicago Chicago, IL MS, Financial Mathematics wiki discuss this program $44,892 FT/PT 1 year 6-10 Baruch College, City University of New York New York, NY MS, Financial Engineering wiki discuss this program $11,040 (in-state) $20,700 (out-of-state) FT/PT 1.5 years 6-10 Columbia University New York, NY MA, Mathematics of Finance wiki discuss this program $35,032 FT/PT 1 year 6-10 Cornell University Ithaca, NY MEng, FE concentration wiki discuss this program $37,050 FT 1.5 years 6-10 New York University New York, NY MS, Mathematics in Finance wiki discuss this program $45,972 FT/PT 1.5 years 6-10 University of California at Berkeley Berkeley, CA MS, Financial Engineering wiki discuss this program $50,402 FT 1 year 11-15 Boston University Boston, MA MS, Mathematical Finance wiki discuss $37,910 FT/PT 1 year 11-15 Georgia Institute of Technology Atlanta, GA MS, Quantitative and Computational Finance wiki discuss $15,561 (in-state) $50,313 (out-of-state) FT/PT 1.5 years 11-15 North Carolina State University Raleigh, NC MS, Financial Mathematics wiki discuss $11,984 (in-state) $36,084 (out-of-state) FT/PT 2 years 11-15 University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Champaign, IL MS, Finance wiki discuss $40,255 FT 1 year 11-15 University of Michigan Ann Arbor, MI MS, Financial Engineering wiki discuss $30,348 (in-state) $56,502 (out-of-state) FT 1.5 years 16-20 Claremont Graduate School Claremont, CA MS, Financial Engineering wiki discuss $59,427 FT/PT 1.5 years 16-20 Rutgers University New Brunswick, NJ MS, Mathematical Finance wiki discuss $29,052 (in-state) $44,640 (out-of-state) FT/PT 1.5 years 16-20 Rutgers University Newark, NJ MS, Quantitative Finance wiki discuss $42,080 (in-state) $69,364 (out-of-state) FT/PT 2 years 16-20 University of Southern California Los Angeles, CA MS, Mathematical Finance wiki discuss $34,500 FT 1.5 year 16-20 University of Toronto Toronto, Canada MS, Mathematical Finance wiki discuss CAD 37,000 FT 1 year 21-23 Florida State University Tallahassee, FL MS, Financial Mathematics wiki discuss $15,552 (in-state) $45,876 (out-of-state) FT/PT 2 years 21-23 Kent State University Kent, OH MS, Financial Engineering wiki discuss $21,552 (in-state) $32,070 (out-of-state) FT 1 year 21-23 Purdue University West Lafayette, IN MS, Specialization in Computational Finance wiki discuss $17,276 (in-state) $48,660 (out-of-state) FT 2 years
