JD学位下面分专业方向吗？比如税法

NYU 的tax law 很好，但是是指JD吗？JD是不是就是出庭辩护律师，与坐办公室的没有关系？谢谢

JD is a GENERAL and professional degree

finishing JD study does not make you a lawyer . You have to take a bar exam to become a lawyer. Lawyers spend most of their time in the office. arguing a case in the court is what trial lawyers do sometimes.

you'd better do some basic research on what JD is

However, doesn't Mitch McDeere of Harvard Law School in John Grisham's famous novel The Firm goes to tax-related sector after his pass of the bar exam? Although he goes to a firm owned by Chicago Mafia, he do have the best chance to go to the best law firm on the Wall Street. Those law firms mainly serve their clients of Fortune 500 in tax affairs.

Would you give some your experience on this? Thanks.

yes, after you graduate with a JD degree, you will join a law firm, and you will usually be assigned to do work in certain field, or you choose to work in some specialities.

of course, each law school has its stronger and weaker fields, which you can tell from its listed courses and its faculty's background. But a JD degree prepares you for no specific practice area.
