In all fairness, currently, Insead is just one of the best b-schools in Europe. First, unlike Harvard, Insead is not associated with a world-famous institution. This will inevitably limit its influence and growing potential. Second, Insead does not have a commanding lead in any field with the possible exception of management consulting. And as I explained earlier, this is very deceiving because of the fact that too many Insead people are sponsored by the consulting firms at the first place (comparing to other schools). As you may already know, based on employment statistics, LBS is clearly the better choice for banking and IMD for general management positions. Finally, as some other European MBA programs at world-class universities gaining momentum in terms of student quality, recruitment, and brand recognition, Insead’s current position will be further challenged. Yale B-school serves as a good example: although Yale B-school is now generally regarded a “top-10” school worldwide, it was not even considered a top 20 in the US less than 10 years ago. As a matter of fact, many top management consulting firms are already sending people to places other than Insead.
