Thanks for all of your best wishes and kind words. The Director of Emory's Career Management Center is a former banker from Goldman Sachs. The CMC really helped a lot for the internship searching, organizing NYC Trek in November and then the super day interview of those big names on the Street in Jan. There was also trips to Charlotte, another fin. center of the States. In addition, Emory does have a lot of alums in those banks and most of them are really warmhearted. One thing is critical for I-banking intern, it would be safter to get an interview if you have relevant former work experience. I don't mean that there is no career switchers, there are and some second year students who are from non-traditional career tracks for IB not only obtained internships but also full time offer. But former relevant w/e will make it a bit easier. I should say school life here is by no means easy. I am now being "killed" by my write-ups for I-Banking and marketing and will have mid-terms during the coming week. As I said, sometime you will even feel that you cannot make it. But, with your efforts (including "suffering") and others' help, you will survive all the academic difficulties. The very thing that can help the most is good time management. I cannot stress more on this point. This is so true also because there are so many things that will distract your attention from academia, Late Nights (parties on every Thur.), Kegs, Poker Tournament, various clubs, etc. You will have a lot of fun! I think UNC is a great school and now is also one of the arch-foes of Emory from our perspective :p. During interviews with those banks, I met several current students from UNC and found them very kind and smart. However, I am really not familiar with either UNC nor Georgetown, the only thing I know is that both are enjoying national reputation. I did apply for some other higher-ranked MBA programs, such as Kellogg and Chicago, dinged by the first one and waitlisted by the second. I should say if there were chance, I, for sure, would like to see what was going on on those famous campus. Nevertheless, the great offer of Goizueta of Emory really didn't turn me down and the experience of breaking records (e.g. the ever-climbing ranking of Goizueta on Businessweek and USNews) and making history is really awesome! Have to end here to finish those endless papers :p GOOD luck to all of you guys! |
