Some tips on the MSF program in States
Hi Jenia! Great to see someone actually in BC MSF:-) I am admitted to BC, and will come this fall. This year, I got admissions and scholarships from all the MSF programs I applied, including Washington University at St. Louis, Vanderbilt, University of Florida, University of Arizona. So in this sense, I believe I can give some insights for the other MSF programs, which I hope could help some people in this forum to make better-informed decisions.
Washington University at St. Louis: Bloody expensive($60k/year), and is a pretty new program. They admitted way too many international students, making me feel like they are using this program as a cash cow for their Bschool.
Vanderbilt: Very good one, but still the curriculum is not so attracting plus the program is relatively new and lasts only 9 months. The adcom there is very nice and hard-working, I could see their focused ambition to bring Vanderbilt back to its previous prestigious ranking and make their MSF program a better one some time later.
University of Florida: I love this program, though all my friends in States told me not to. They call it "party school" and thought recruiters tend not to regard this school as potential recruiting grounds. Anyway, the curriculum of the MSF program in UFL is my favorite, since they put their focus on fixed-income field, which is also my career ambition. Plus, they got an impressive placement record you could check on their website. In the end, there are many enhancements in this program, including a student-run investment fund, a asset allocation simulation, and a bunch of networking opportunities.
University of Arizona: I could not find anything special for this program, since they gave me admission very quickly, so if someone is familiar with this program, please share with us.
I hope all the above helps.
Disclaimer: My information maybe biased downward for other schools since I have already chosen BC. Also, I am a fresh graduate from China, which may influence my view on the pros and cons of MSF programs.

P.S. Jenia could you help me to dig more about the placement information for Chinese fresh graduate in full-time MSF program? Thanks a million and look forward to seeing you on campus:-) |
