都不是很能理解，the number of which没有指代？我感觉which就是指wolf population呀；
C中however修饰are scheduled，为什么会有这样的意思，however不就是转折嘛为什么还要关心它修饰谁呢？可以在area后面加一个分号或者在however后面加一个逗号就能解决这个问题？分号和逗号到底都起着什么作用呀？

哪位可以帮忙解释一下吗QAQ

C的问题在于，however 后面不加逗号直接加句子，会造成however意思的歧义。这句话会变成: state wildlife officials are scheduled to take over the job..., however the number of wolves are ultimately be dictated by the number of prey in the area - 意思就变成 他们会接管这项工作，不管狼的数量最后怎么会改变。

例句如下 -
I want to run; however, it will rain tomorrow - 我想表达的是，我想去跑步，可是明天会下雨

如果不加逗号这样说

I want to run, however it will rain tomorrow - 这句话就变成了我想去跑步，不管明天怎么下雨。

看见关于C 的讨论插嘴说一句：

However 用法：
using ‘however’ as a conjunctive adverb
1）‘However’ can be used to join two simple sentences to make a compound sentence.
2）‘However’ indicates that the relationship between the two independent clauses is one of contrast or opposition.
    eg: The engineers claimed that the bridge was safe; however, they were still not prepared to risk crossing.

Use a semi-colon (;) before and a comma (,) after however when you are using it to write a compound sentence.


总结一下：1）可以用来接句子 2）接的两个句子表达的意思是相反的。（GMAT永远不会去考你however前面是不是分号，good to know, but don't have to remember that kinda detail)

所以我们来看C
state wildlife officials are scheduled to take over .....
however
the number of wolves will be dictated...

这两个句子的句意根本就没有对比的关系。这就是为什么OG在这儿说：however在这儿用作连接词，但是呢however好像是要跟are scheduled唱反调。

还是希望大家不要去记rules，而是去认真体会这些句子究竟在说什么。

- Population 人口简单来说是个集合名词。the number of 只能修饰可数名词。the number of population 一定是错误搭配。
- 这里的 the number of which，逻辑上which 指代 wolf。但是如OG 所说，wolf 在 wolf population 中所担当的角色是形容词的角色。
ps 我说完这段话感觉我就是在重复 OG 的答案啊。只不过翻译了一下。还是认真看答案比较节约时间哦：）

不一样的，虽然核心词都是后面的名词。
比如：the woman teacher指女老师，是teacher的子集；复数形式为women teachers；且woman不可以用代词指代。
而the woman's teacher指这个女生的老师（等于teacher of the woman），是一种拥有与被拥有的关系；复数形式为woman’s teachers；且woman's可以用her指代。

简单说两句。
主从句之间关系有时表达牵强时，更好的做法就是把句子结束，新起一句，像这里B这样。
几个排除点：
the size of population 比 the number 好。尤其the number of which 别扭
however 不加逗号，不做连词，类似whatever 是一种让步意义的副词修饰

还有想请教下 这种noun-adjective是不是跟possessive nouns一样呢？都是nouns充当着adjectives的角色？
