1.Young people should take several different kinds of jobs before they decide which career to take in the long term. Agree or disagree
With the rapid development of modern society, competitions between individuals have become more and more drastic than ever. In the pursuits of personal success and good living conditions, everybody pay lots of attention to their careers. As for young people, some people believe they should take several different kinds of jobs before choosing the final career path, while on the contrary some people think young people should focus on certain field since the very beginning of their career. To me, I think it is a good idea for young people to take several different kinds of jobs before making the final decision.
First of all, in this high-speed and complex world, one needs to obtain many kinds capabilities in order to fulfill tasks from one professional area. As we all know, different kinds of jobs can provide with people not only diverse experiences but also enough trainings to them, which will definitely enhance the working competence of an individual, especially young people. For example, if an architect wants to draw a draft for a construction project, he or she must have knowledge about physical and space as well as skills in painting and design, some of which might have exceeded what he or she have been taught in college. The only way he or she could obtain all these is to do different jobs and accumulate related capabilities step by step.
Furthermore, as the personality of young people is still under development from, many of his or her potentials can be released gradually, no one can be one hundred percent sure about what field he or she is best good at. Nor can a person have a clear-cut feeling about which career path will be the most optimistic choice just before his or her first job. Taking my uncle as an example, he is now running a fruits retailing company, when he was young, he has worked for several employers including restaurant, banks, logistic company and travel agency, he told me that it just have taken him more than 15 years to find out what job he is exactly willing to do and how he could put all his strengths into practical uses.
Admittedly, in choosing different kinds of jobs, young people are sometimes judged to be too jumpy. Frequent changes of working area will inevitably introduce instability to the accumulation of certain skills and experiences, which will jeopardize one’s performance in career path from long term perspective.
To conclude, I agree with the idea that young people should take several different kinds of job before choosing the final career because different jobs may grant us diverse skills needed for complex work and help to release our potentials to the best. |
