解释：修饰分数用less
A.    less than they did
B.    less than it did
C.    less than they were
D.    ！lower than
E.    lower than they were

D项可不可以理解为状语比较啊，就是"in September"与"in the year that ended in the previous quarter"的状语比较。如果D项是less than可以么？

因为之前看过状语比较的例句:Rice has protein of higher quality than usual/everbefore/1000 years ago/people expected.所以比较疑惑两种的不同。。。请赐教啦

个人以为，这道题如果答案是less than也是可以的。
但是问题是这道题的D是Lower than。有cost lower than还是增长的cost lower than的歧义。
