以下是引用tulipoo在2004-3-7 11:26:00的发言:The planets far from the Sun are so remote from any heat source that their temperatures are thought to be much near absolute zero.
i think the wrong thing is "much". there are a couple of ways to correct it.
1. to be near to absolute zero is correct.
2. we can say " to be much nearer (to) absolute zero", which is correct, too
3. much ----> very , to be very near to absolute zero
I prefer choosing #2 [to be much nearer (to) absolute zero], it sounds like to be said by a scientist.
ffice ffice" />The adjective NEAR can be used like a preposition, with or without TO. TO is not normally used when we talking about physical closeness.
We live NEAR the station.
When we are not talking about physical closeness, NEAR TO is often preferred.
I came very near to hitting him.
NEARER and NEAREST are generally used with TO, though TO can be dropped in an informal style.
Come and sit nearer (to) me.
Who's the girl sitting nearest (to) the door?
