做题时隐约记得有个语法点是 完成时态后不能加伴随状语
但为什么这道题给的答案却是D呢

抛砖：  个人理解是，从句子结构上看，缺少主句，只剩下了D、E。因为D项but also 完全错误，所以排除了D，选E。

高手，有个问题想问一下哦：我在做这道题的时候，以为句子的主语是Syria，The first trenches...是Syria的同位语，否则为什么Syria前面有一个逗号呢？能解释一下这个问题吗？

我一直在纠结，D和E直接用cut into，感觉cut在这边是过去分词，这样不会少主语吗？

还有一个问题就是A项的语义问题

centrally a... societies 应该做evidence 宾语从句里的主语，而不是for societies
