做题时隐约记得有个语法点是 完成时态后不能加伴随状语
但为什么这道题给的答案却是D呢

我说一下我的做题步骤：原文的大概意思是 什么地方发现的化石，测量日期是多少岁，使得它是最早的....
1. A排除，因为fossils  ， 后面是it
2. B排除 fossils   后面却是has
3. C排除 fossils   后面却是was
4. D 没啥问题
5. E排除 fossils  后面却是was

做完了，想那么多语法点干啥，考试时候你用的上么？

理解成结果状语啊making blablabla是前面一系列动作的结果~

楼上正确。 LZ你都说啦~ 完成时态后面ING不能表伴随。 但是，逗号+ING有两种功能~ 。
你可以这么看：
正常情况下：
....n(注意句尾名词）, -ing...: Ing一般是不修饰句尾名词的，即一般不做定语。  此时一般做状语。 当前面为主谓宾时，表示伴随或结果。    当前面为主系表时，因为主句是一个状态，不存在伴随，所以做主语修饰，当主语和宾语表意相同时，也可看做是修饰宾语。
当前面为完成时时，因为完成时无法表示伴随。 那么就只剩下表结果或者修饰逗号前的名词。

伴随状语是修饰整个句子的意思，是一个无主语结构。v-ing形式的使用比v-ed的使用相对灵活一些。

请问完成时态后comma+Ving为什么不能表伴随呢？

A，看完没啥大问题，留着
B，yields与前面的trenches不符，干掉
C，好像没啥问题，留着
D，yields的错误同B，干掉
E，读了，好像问题也不大
这时留下A,C,E，对比一下这三个选项，
A是that were cut；C是having been cut；E是cut，对比下来C的用法不好，意思是正在被cut，所以C干掉
然后看A和E，A是were arising，而E是arose，对比来看，这个事情是发生在过去，而不是过去正在发生，所以arose应该更好一些，所以选E吧
PS：这题有点难的感觉
