我擦，今年HBS的Essay Questions都好新啊。

今年的问题是：

All application questions below are required.
1. Tell us about three of your accomplishments. (600 words)
2. Tell us three setbacks you have faced. (600 words)
3. Why do you want an MBA? (400 words)
4. Answer a question you wish we'd asked. (400 words)

看看去年的：

1. What are your three most substantial accomplishments and why do you view them as such? (600-word limit)
2. What have you learned from a mistake? (400-word limit)
Please respond to two of the following (400-word limit each):
1. What would you like the MBA Admissions Board to know about your undergraduate academic experience?
2. What is your career vision and why is this choice meaningful to you?
3. Tell us about a time in your professional experience when you were frustrated or disappointed.
4. When you join the HBS Class of 2013, how will you introduce yourself to your new classmates?

首先今年几乎全是新的问题，除了三个成就的那个，还把substantial拿掉了。然后今年没有选择的options了，全部required，最搞笑的是今年最后一个topic，不知道大家怎么看啊？

Yep I've been asking around and getting mixed responses - some say I don't have to waste word counts since they didn't ask, while others say I'd better touch that for a little in 3 lines or something.

Don't waste your words answering questions they didn't ask.

第一个题目是标准HBS题目，嘿从前出现好多次了。
第二个比较难啊。要找三个a change in status for the worse usually temporarily而且写实在了不容易。
第三个也算MBA申请标准题。
第四个是自由发挥啊。正好用来表现一下其他题目不能表现的。

首先今年几乎全是新的问题，除了三个成就的那个，还把substantial拿掉了。然后今年没有选择的options了，全部required，最搞笑的是今年最后一个topic，不知道大家怎么看啊？

中国人都喜欢 over analyse 今年申请的人有的好纠结最好一个题目的了

David,

"Why HBS" should be evident from all the reasons you listed you want an MBA. You don't have to be explicit about it since they didn't ask, but if you're saying 'you want to be a professional back-end hedge fund manager with high-end specialised financial skills', then you may be a better fit for schools like Columbia, Chicago and Wharton.

Choose reasons for "why MBA" (and for that matter, "why this career goal") that make you a good natural fit with HBS.

Hello my friend—on our website, we go in detail on these essays for sure.  So you should check it out online!  But one thing is for sure—you must answer question 2.  J  You simply MUST lay out your career goals.  Not Why HBS (this is the only MBA school that doesn’t need for you to sell them on Why their program) but why MBA, career goals, etc.  VERY important that you answer that question.  And again, check out our essay analyses online!
