一种没见过的语法现象，求牛人赐教

原文：The 19 century was the time that thought what we called: Realism developing in European in theater.
我的问题是，这句话里面的thought作什么成分，我觉得如果作为动词过去式的话意思不同啊，应该是过去分词，如果是作为过去分词的话，应该写成：
The 19 century was the time that was thought what we called: Realism developing in European in theater. 或The 19 century was the time thought what we called: Realism developing in European in theater.

这个才应该是正确的吧：The 19 century was the time that saw what we called: Realism developed in European theater.
