The individual rooms have the following furnishings:
- Bookshelves, a large desk, a cabinet under the desk with three drawers, a lamp on the desk.
- A single bed with a side table and a lamp on the side table.
- A decent sized closet with small shelves for clothing and two large shelves to store things like suitcases.
- The bathroom has a sink, a towel rack, a toilet and a shower.
Some individuals' rooms have patios, and some don't.
The "apartments" are basically double the size of the individual rooms. They have two rooms- a living room/kitchen and a bedroom. They have the following furnishings:
- 2 large desks, bookshelves, 1 couch, several chairs, a small kitchen area, a small kitchen table, a double bed with two side tables, a standard bathroom with a sink, toilet and a shower. There is more storage space as well in the apartments.
There is a common area at Expansiel, but it is a bar with a large patio and a piano. There are no common cooking facilities.
Even though there is a cafeteria on campus, most people who have single rooms buy some basic equipment for cooking (refrigerator, microwave, etc). The cafeteria is ok but it is nice to be able to cook your own food when you want!
On Sept 2 from 1-3PM (the second day of check-in) we will have a sale where you can purchase used items from previous students (refrigerators, office supplies, etc). We will also rent a bus to go to Velizy, the local shopping mall, during the first week so that you can buy items for your rooms.
Expansiel is located on campus in Jouy en Josas, so it is quite a ways from Paris. |
