UBC finance interview

搜到过很多UBC MSF的面经，没见phd的，今天面完了攒攒rp~

11点准时接到电话，Prof Garlappi口音比大多是意大利人好很多。还是很panic吧，所以蛮紧张的。传统问题，why UBC？ Research experience？抓住我在做的东西问了几个问题。问了下我现在上的课，问了都cover什么topic，讲哪些论文，果断忘记了最重要的那些~囧。。。问了最喜欢的econ的课，毫不犹豫说micro，课本MWG。然后问我觉得未来finance的research你觉得哪个方向最重要and why？然后就是说他们今年只要3个人，这个项目很难进。他们今年也有3个人在job market上（难道是不刷人的program？），现在的flyout还挺不错的。然后问我拿到谁家funding，如实告诉他，结束。

我估计自己杯具了~不过老师人很nice，写个面经攒攒rp，其实主要是昨天意外拿到一个offer，所以今天也没怎么准备，大家好运吧~

My supervisor is not WT. Actually, I do not know who WT is? I have been put on the waiting list and have little chance. Have you get the offer already?

Sorry just some wild guess cause Lozenzo once said oh I have a colleague in china called WT~~I am not a phd student. If you are on the WL, I think you still have decent chance. Just follow up and best luck!

我不是从国内直接申请的~UBC的waiting是分了4个quantile，每个有3个人，我悲惨的在第二个，估计希望不是很大了，慢慢等好了~你还知道别的关于UBC的phd的信息吗？感觉placement还是一般了，没有特别好~

这年头，除非你是TOP20 PROGRAM，都有PLACEMENT悲剧的可能

Placement的情况我不是非常了解，我觉得也要看你手上其他的offer和这个相比较怎么样了。我个人还是蛮喜欢这个系的。祝好运！

他们现在发了几个offer了？

我看gradcafe上有报的了，能搞12个waiting list, 也是真够可以的了。

发了3个，所以他们才搞成3个为一组。所以应该是所有shortlisted的都在WL上了吧~其实我觉得那个报的貌似有问题，因为实际offer发的比那个日期早不少，我在那个人报之前就拿到WL了，WL肯定是在offer之后吧？

How do you know that you are on the waiting list?
