没面试被waitinglist和面试后被waitinglist有区别吗？

Yes, see our answer below my friend.  You should send a letter after a couple weeks, with a gentle reminder that you are awaiting further instructions from them; that you are eager to interview, and looking forward to receiving further information.  Now, if youd like, you can also include information in this letter—but you don’t have to.  If you have been promoted, retaken tests, etc.—you can say aaaall that in this letter.  But if all you want to do is let them know that you are eager to receive further instructions (and they have said on your website that they will send out further instructions), you can certainly do so.  But do so after a week or two of waiting, and do so quickly, respectfully, and in a short, well-written note.  And good luck!

Hey there.  You just need to be careful—in all our conversations with adcom members, they are all VERY clear that they don’t want to hear from people too much.  Applicants who call too often, who bother them, are not treated well.  J  So you need to watch out for that.  Do NOT call every week, or every day for that matter.  You need to be patient, and show that you have good judgment.  So maybe it isn’t two weeks—but given them some time, give them some space.  Nobody likes someone who is too pushy.  Adcoms get frustrated easily…  I hope this makes sense—and good luck to you!

Hey there—YES, if you have taken on additional responsibilities you absolutely SHOULD update the adcom.  But only if the updates improve your application.  So for example, if you transferred to a new office in the same city (and your job responsibilities have been mostly the same) then you would have no need to update anyone.  After all, your application hasn’t improved at all.  But at the same time, if you moved to a different country, or if you were promoted—if something COOL has happened, that would improve your application, then you absolutely should update the adcom.  That is the best way to play the wait list!

Hey there.  Yes!  You absolutely should.  Not in an obnoxious way of course, but let them know that you are in demand, and that you are being courted by other schools.  That will let them know that they need to take your application very seriously.  However, you need to be careful not to be obnoxious—if you are mean or disrespectful in the email, they might of course say to you, “Well good for you then, go to THAT program.  Good bye…”  You want to be extremely respectful in this letter, that is the most important thing…
