Shall I re-take GMAT?

I just took the GMAT yesterday, and I scored poorly: 670 (Q48, V34). I had scored between 730 to 770 on practice tests, but the stress during the exam knocked me down. Since I am already late in the application process (haven't sent out any applications yet).  I am not sure whether to apply for accounting PHD for 2011 academic year (deadlines come around 1/15/2011), or to waite for a year, re-take GMAT, and apply for 2012. Thank you for your sincere advise.

你真逗。 看了这个坛子， 我今年都不想申请了。 好象这里不是北大就是清华， 要不然就是富蛋的。 GMAT 不是760就是750。好多人还发表过paper。我的信心都开动摇了。 真怀疑我的application递上去回不回是笑话？

Thanks for all of your response. I don't have any reserach experience or published papers. Are they required for application? I think I need to study more about the application process. From reading this board it seems that I missed a lot of important application information.

My stats are:

3.9 GPA in Econ from a small chinese college
3.4 GPA from a second tiered US B-school (I didn't study too much during MBA, since I found that MBA was not my cup of tea soon after I started MBA program. Plus I never planned to go back to school again after MBA)

9 years working experience (5.5 years of audit, 3 years of controllership)

US citizen

I am thinking to go back to school because I want to learn new things and have a flexible work schedule since I have a very young kid to take care of.

I am still hesitating whether to apply for 2011 academic year. It seems that I am well underprepared for the application. What you guys do in order to enhance application? Did most of you actually conduct research or publish paper? But without proper guidance, how (I assume most of you have a master degree at the most) you guys can manage to do reserch on your own or have a paper published? I assume before entering a PHD program, most of the students are blind on reaserch metholodgy.

这个没有绝对的定义，只有更强没有最强。一般情况下，你所在的领域的知名教授愿意给你写很积极的推荐就算强推了。最好是你跟这位教授做过一些研究甚至写过paper，而不是单纯地听过课。
但是有可能到了最后一轮的所有candidates都有强推，这个时候就得看自己的其他方面是否过硬或者推荐人是否愿意进一步地通过其它方式来推荐你了。

请问，什么样的才叫强推？

需要不需要重考，取决于你的其他背景，比如GPA, 研究经历, 有无强推等等。

GMAT的作用没有那么神话。
