“Constant innovation and change within an organization are as likely to damage the organization as they are to improve it.”

In his argument, the author asserts that constant innovation and change within an organization are dangerous and harmful. However, views on the assertion vary from person to person. It is no wonder that the issue is controversial and complex because different people's views are due to their educational background, the culture, the environment they live and so on.In fact, there is no universal answer to this issue. To some extent,I partial agree with the author's assertion. However, the author unnecessarily extends the assertion to a extreme while overlooks some other factors. My positions are based on deep analysis as discussed below.

On one hand,I would like to admit the author's assertion ,though suffers several flaws, has some merits in some case.Though innovation and change can make the organization more creative and competitive, changing more frequently would confuse the workers and bosses in the organization. The staff in the organization suffer more bad impact. It is hard to adopt a new environment. In addition, more innovation may bring a high level of development cost.

Admittedly, innovation without a goal or changing more frequently must be harmful to the organization.

On the other hand, some people hold the opposing view that the innovation and change is beneficial to the organization. In my opinion, the views about the benefit of the innovation is somewhat acceptable. The author overlooks the benefits that the innovation and change bring to the organization. In modern time, the creation is more and more important to a company. For example,in 1920s,the Ford created a model-T,the most popular car in American,in that time,it was a creative car,and the model-T brought high profits to Ford.

In sum,the assertion that constant innovation and change within an organization are as likely to damage the organization as the are to improve it is a complex and controversial one.So there is no certain answer to it.According to me,the question whether the innovation is beneficial or harmful should be based on the extent of innovation. As long as an organization changes at an adequate pace, it will definitely benefit from them.
