Dinged by Columbia again and my thinkings about it

Got the ding letter this morning. Though it is in my expectation, it's still some heartbreaking. Columbia is always my dream school, forever!

It's the second year I applied to CBS and was declined without interview. After checking my package again and reviewing my road of application in the past year, I think that my low Toefl (100) should be the key factor of my failure.

So just forget the 100. If you wanna these top schools, 105 is the threshold. And you shall try to get 110. Since most Chinese could only get 23 for speaking, it seems that Toefl will be a more tough job than GMAT for your road to top schools.

楼主你不是拿了Michigan Ross 的interview invitation了吗，我已经很羡慕了。努力拿到Michigan offer，我觉得也不比Columbia差。

Agree with Jason Teo on this. Personally I don't think a school would reject a candidate from interviewing just because of your ibt score. After all, ibt is just a test of your English ability, and it is just one of couple "academic scores" school looks at.

Typically if schools are concerned only about your English standard, they'll interview you and see for themselves how good your English is in person.

Perhaps the problem lies elsewhere?
