Got into both. I thought I would choose NYU in a heart beat because of its location, but now I am not 100% sure whether this reason is good enough. My post MBA goals are MNC headquarters finance role in the east coast of the US, or consulting. My background is 4.5yrs audit, 4 years MNC finance in Energy industry. Preferably will return to Energy but open to other sectors. It seems Stern's ranking is moving upward whereas Duke is dropping in the past decade. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
I think both schools have their advantages for coporates career. Alumni network wise, I guess Duke has more edges for it focuses in GM, while the location of Stern opens more doors as many F500s have their headquarters or big offices in NY.
Check out the employment report of recent years, find out which one attracts more MBA recruiters of your target companies.
I have colleagues from the two schools(German and US guys). Both are very nice and smart. The learning experience would be great in both.
Thanks for the comments. I will probably give the big apple a chance and it will offer me more opportunities in return. I am impressed by the Career Development Center at NYU and I think students can usually find good internships. The location is so integrated into the city and Durham can't compete with that. Once I decide on NYU I'll withdraw from Duke and hope it will bring luck to some waitlisters there.
