I think it is OK to tell the head you have submitted the application.

Personally I did so in an information session. I submitted on Oct 10th, and the information session was actually held on Oct 13th. I told the associate director of admissions that I had submitted the application 3 days before... But later, I did ask her a lot of questions... pretty sure that she had graved impressions of me...

and if you do not have a good talk with them, you can use a fake name when they ask you

请教各位，半个月前提交了R1的申请，然后得知一周后Head of MBA Recruitment and Admissions来北京开information session，我上网注册了，但是没有告诉Head我已经提交了申请（心里有点担心如果在宣讲会上跟Head有所交流却表现不好，反而会影响申请的结果）。弱弱问一下各位牛牛，我这种情况，如果事先跟Head说明情况，各有什么利弊？需要在information session上着力表现不？
