hey,i am currently studying MSA in baruch. I was in the same situation with you half a year ago so i came to offer some information of Baruch as far as i know, hope it helps: 1,baruch has good accounting programme, the intermediate and advanced accounting courses are really challenging, you have to struggle for it.Some professors such as law and taxation are form local accounting and law firms. The knowledge they gave to us is practical(live cases, related to what happened each day in NY) 2,It has huge amount of professional students. Some of the students are Wall-street professionals (middle-senior managers). You will see men and women with formal suits and a cup of coffee in their hands hurrying into the class everyday. You have good opportunities to approach to them as long as you have good communication skills. Networking is one of the most importance in terms of landing a job here. 3,Internship. As you might have already known that internship is a key issue and closely related to your future job.A good performance in internship highly secures your stay in the company. If you live in NYC,you have chances to do intern during day time(most courses are taught at night)so that's one of the reasons why ppl say baruch has offered lots of job opportunites. Anyway, it really depends on each individual in terms of job hunting.Another important factor that influences employment rate is the whole economy of US.On the one hand, Wall-street is laying off labors due to the junk bonds and the dimming economy, and on the other hand, there are still lots of new jobs posted everyday and multinationals are recruiting accounting grads though. I am not saying that baruch is the absolutely wonderful choice for you. I am just telling the information through what i saw here, and trying to be objective. I am not quite familiar with MFE programme but i hear it is also good. You will make the decisions by yourself anyway. Good luck! |
