The ongoing debate about whether it's agood idea to in favor ofemployees working for four days a week has different conclusions in the passageand the lecture. The passage suggests that it is beneficialto allow employees work 4 days a week, while the lecture points out there are alot of disadvantages. Firstly, the passage thinks it won'tincrease company's financial burden as four-day workers get less payment, butthe training cost and the wealth benefit for more workers inferred in the lecture greatly weaken the persuasion of the passage's point. In addition, the lecture regard the splendid situation that workers could be morerested and alert which guaranteesfewer errors impossible. In the contrast, as companies are trying toreduce their training cost by decreasing the additional employees as many aspossible, employees would be forced to finish the five-day work in four daysthat will definitely tense works' stress and lead to more mistakes. Last but not least, the less unemploymentrate claimed in the passage is denied in the lecture. Less working time wouldcontribute to lower ability of these employees to take over their work. Thenthey could be the first to be fired whenever there is a need. In conclusion, there are lots of situationsto think over before taking this plan into compliment.
